Foreign Babes on the Tour de France
I was in the French city of Lyon Last year when Lance Armstrong won his 6th consecutive Tour de France victory, Today he's done it again. Truly amazing I think. Especially because I've been biking more lately, and I'm not all that good at climbing hills. That boy has to climb mountains! Anyhow, it's really cool, and last year as the Tour wound through the French countryside, I became a real fan of it. It's too bad that they really don't broadcast it stateside.
Speaking of which, I also just finished Rachel DeWoskin's "Foreign Babes in Beijing." Katie and I are lucky enough to count Rachel and her husband Zayd as friends in the area, and were amazed at her story of becoming a Chinese soap opera star, even before this book came out. Now, after reading her book, I badly want to go to China and see for myself the social universe that she describes.
I convinced Katie to venture down to Chinatown a few days ago to feast on Peking Duck, something I've never tried before, and am looking forward to having again.
So, today's inspirations are Lance Armstrong, Rachel Dewoskin, and whoever invented Peking Duck.
Sounds like a party!
