Marblevision/Atlanta

When it rains it pours. Not literally of course, it's beautiful here in NYC these days.

Lots of news to impart this morning.

First and foremost, Katie has been offered an amazing position at a church in Atlanta. A blessed opportunity as she puts it. I still have to get used to speaking "churchese" where "blessed", "pray", and "greetings" replace, "'sup", "way-cool", and "yo." On second thought, I think "yo" went out awhile back.

Anyway, this position means there is a very real possibility of Katie and I moving to Atlanta sometime soon. Something that would change our lives dramatically. Especially now, with the opportuniteis that NYC is beginning to afford us. I don't know which way this one's going to land at the moment, I still have a lot of work to do today...

Which leads me to the second thing. We had an amazing WeWo service last night. I don't blog about this much, but I also work as a multimedia director at Marble Collegiate Chruch at 29th and 5th for their Wednesday evening worship service, or WeWo for short.

I usually run a program called Sunday Plus from the back of the sancturary with all kinds of slides and lyrics to songs and biblical passages and whatnot, but last night we got it together enough that I was able to add three LIVE cameras to the mix and a video clip. It looked AMAZING and I think is really going to knock the door down with possibility for a young, progressive Christian worship service in Manhattan.

Anyhow, I'm all talky right now, which usually means I need to cut it short. So that's where I'm at, at the uno momento, I'm sure there'll be more to come.

Oh yeah, I just realized that I only saved my last two entries in the blog as drafts, and didn't publish them. So now you're going to have THREE THREE THREE entries in one.

Haymarket!

Seems like God the Almighty has been reading my blog.

Not 24 hours after I post an entry about how much I want to be back in the theater in some way, I'm happy to announce that I'll be writing music and a sound design for the NYC off-broadway production of Zayd Dohrn's historical drama "Haymarket."

I'm pumped!!! More on this to come...

The Theater Bug

Last night Katie and I finally got over to see "The Blowin of Baille Gall" over at the Irish Arts Center on 51st and 10th.

I had written music for this show when it was back in Boston and luckily for me they decided that it was the right score for the NYC production as well. I put the score online earlier this year and didn't hear much back from the folks doing the production. This makes me a bit scared at times, because I hate giving my music to another sound designer. Again, I got lucky though as the sound desinger on this production, Julie Pittman, I had known from many a previous Boston production.

Anyhow, the show was fabulous. Disturbing and fabulous. Julie did a GREAT job with my score, and I hope we're able to work "together" again someday soon. Katie and I went out for a pint with the cast after the show, and it made me really miss working in the theater more.

Katie and I are in a holding pattern at the moment with her job situation. Not sure where we're going to be landing so I can't really take that many theatrical jobs at the moment. In fact, I even had to back out of a production in Boston that I would have LOVED to have been a part of.

It'll happen again soon...

TV on DVD

Okay, I haven't blogged in awhile, and this isn't an update of anything, just something I was walking around today thinking about...

It's awesome that TV has gone to DVD. Katie and I found a great little video shop on 105th and Bway with a HUGE selection.

Favs so far:

1. The Wire (HBO)
2.God, the Devil, and Bob (NBC)
3. The Office (BBC)
4. The Office (NBC)
5. Coupling (BBC)

Check em' out. You'll be glad you did.

Other than that we've been to Atlanta in the past few weeks and we're off to Minneapolis this weekend. Church stuff got us travelling up a storm.

Soon more pics and stuff.
